A group of students who are participating in a university's summer science camp are drawn into an incredible quagmire of conflicts, ranging from the relatively simple conflict between an engaging and forthright young teacher and his older manipulative colleague, to a contest pitting political correctness against free scientific inquiry. Despite the murkiness of some of the issues in the latter conflict, the students pitch in enthusiastically on what they believe to be the side of righteousness, and passions rise to fever pitch. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide。和波正太郎は張り込み、浮気や素行の調査などを主な仕事としている冴えない探偵。教員を辞めた後に探偵になった身で、教員時代の教頭だった犬塚邦雄を探偵社の社長として、二人で東京・芝浦の古いビルにささやかながら探偵事務所を構えている。ある日正太郎は、ピストルを構えて正太郎を狙っているように見えた、篠原みゆきという女性に出会う。みゆきは調査の仕事に協力し、そのお礼として、みゆきに頼まれるがまま助手として探偵社に採用する。しかしみゆきの行動は頓珍漢な所があって正太郎の足を引っ張ることも度々だった。。
