本片为申江于1972年自编自导的战国时代历史武侠片。故事描述，公元前二五七年，秦国图并吞六国，秦昭王发兵攻赵国。魏、赵为邻国，倘赵被攻破，魏自难保全，但魏王怕秦，按兵不动。后太傅被杀，魏王纳其女如姬（夏凡）为妃，答应代其复仇。信陵君（宗华）门客朱亥（张斌）为救国，乘机代姬报父仇，以请姬盗魏王身上的兵符令牌，发兵却秦救赵……。“中国唱诗班”系列动画由中共嘉定区委宣传部投资出品，已列为嘉定800年重点项目之一。这批动画完全由中国青年团队独立原创手绘，在故事、场景、人物、服饰方面都根据历史文献，进行反复考证修改，以期能在细节上最大程度还原当时历史情景，使影片不仅成为一个有故事的动画作品，更成为一个可以管窥一个时代风貌的绘卷。。In a confused welter of artistic licence, this is the classical music biopic which makes 'Song to Remember'look like a masterpiece.
